About Dawson Dance
Our Mission
Dawson Dance is a collective of like-minded dancers who want to pursue their academic and artistic endeavours while at Dawson. Our team aims to foster a positive and supportive environment conducive to the growth and comfort of our dancers, while remaining dynamic and competitive. In addition, we hope to help students build bonds and a strong sense of community within our team to help students adjust to life in CEGEP. Lastly, we pride ourselves on making Dawson Dance as inclusive as possible by offering students different options based on commitment, cost and experience.
Our Approach
Unlike traditional dance teams, the Dawson Dance is managed and choreographed by current Dawson students, to enable more understanding, respect and unity on the team. We have also decided to do this to support emerging artists in our community and give them opportunities to further their careers in dance. Furthermore, to cater to as many dancers as possible we have decided to split the team into two divisions, Rec & Tech. These divisions have distinct levels of commitment, experience and cost to ensure as many dancers can join our family. Specifically, dancers on the Tech team will be able to teach their own drop-ins and tap into their creative sides, to promote leadership within our team. Lastly, we have decided to compete at competitions, create short-films and participate in photoshoots to help dancers develop their performance skills and offer diverse opportunities.

Victoria Ormiston

Meet Victoria, she is a second year student in the Social Change and Solidary program. Her role at Dawson Dance is to maintain communication between the dance team and Dawson College. Victoria is also in charge of the chreographies that will be presented in shows and competitions.
Leila Pozzi

Elisabeth Babineau
Vice-President of Finances
Meet Elisabeth, she is currently a second year student in the Law Society & Justice program. Her role at Dawson Dance is to ensure that the finances are kept organized.
Vanessa Couture
Vice-President of Events & Fundraisers
Meet Vanessa, she is a second year student in the nursing program. Her role with Dawson Dance is to coordinate the recreation division as well as organize fundraisers and events.
2 Divisions
To insure accessibility throught Dawson Dance, we have implemented two different divisions to the team
Recreational divison
This division of the dance team has the purpose of making dance accessible to all Dawson students, no matter the level. We would host monthly drop-ins with various teachers and dance styles.
Technical divison
The technical division is one competitive dance team that will practice contemporary and jazz dance styles. These dancers will all ideally have some previous dance experience.
